WIRE ROPE SERVICE utilizes the newest technology for MAGNETIC ROPE TESTING (MRT). This testing service is a fully computerized, electromagnetic evaluation of any ferrous rope up to 70mm (2 ¾”) in diameter.

 

The MRT system includes two fully computerized magnets and measurement and evaluation software which enables the precise detection of anomalies throughout the profile of the entire rope length.

 

The process is fully automated, computer accurate, and extremely efficient; our system can inspect up to 5 meters of rope per second (980 fpm).

In addition, when testing track ropes, the magnet can be lifted automatically at the towers and the slack carriers.

 

WRS’s testing equipment was developed at, and is in use by the INSTITUTE OF MECHANICAL HANDLING AND LOGISTICS (IFT) at THE UNIVERSITY OF STUTTGART.
